ABOUT US

The Centre was established in 2005 and since then has been delivering outdoor experiential learning programmes to various national and international organisations and institutions. The Centre creates and delivers high quality age-based and need-based modular programmes for a cross-section of participants by extracting knowledge and experience from the Magic Bus Sport for Development programme. The Centre team also conducts programmes outside the facility in the form of daytrips, overnights, expeditions and community action learning modules.

 

All our facilitators are certified by European Ropes Courses Association (ERCA) and National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) and maintain very high global standards of Health & Safety in their delivery.

 

We offer accommodation in large airy dormitories with wooden bunk beds, a full-service kitchen which can dish out both Continental and Indian cuisine, air-conditioned classrooms that can be converted into conference rooms or workshop areas and facilitation areas which overlook the surrounding hills. We can accommodate upto 80 participants at any given time and deliver non-residential day programmes for over 100 participants. The Centre can also host a variety of corporate events ranging from the provision of conference and venue facilities to offsites, annual days, meets and workshops. We can provide hospitality and event management services for 250 delegates at a time for the day. 


We work with schools, youth and corporate groups from all over India in helping them achieve their learning and development objectives through outdoor activities and facilitated reviews. These objectives can range from getting people together for an away-day of fun and helping build better performing teams, to more cognitive developmental goals linked with leadership, communication and improving confidence. Our qualified and experienced instructors make sure that all programmes are designed with each client in mind to provide everyone with a unique experience.

OUR TEAM

Matthew Spacie
MBE, CEO and Founder

Matthew is a UK citizen with residency status in India and lives with his wife Ashima, in Mumbai. He first came to India in 1986 when he worked as a volunteer with The Sisters of Charity in Calcutta. Following his graduation and a number of management positions in the UK, he was posted to India ten years later working as the Chief Operating Officer for Cox & Kings, then India's largest travel company. In February 1999, Matthew founded Magic Bus, working with children from the Akanksha Foundation. Having played international rugby for India, he used this as his platform to start the sports programme for Magic Bus. He resigned from his job in 2001 and now works full-time for Magic Bus. In July 2002, Matthew was awarded an Ashoka Fellowship and in 2007 he was awarded an MBE for services to children in the Commonwealth. He is also a founding partner of Cleartrip, India's 4th largest online travel portal. Matthew was previously Chairman of the Magic Bus India Board and from 2008 has taken on the role of CEO

Arunabha Pal
Head - Magic Bus Centre for Learning & Development

Arunabha or Aaron as he is known, has an Advanced Post Graduate Diploma in Global Sales and Marketing Management from NIS Sparta, Calcutta and Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, Economics and Education from Calcutta University. He has extensive experience in the development of high performance teams and senior level management having worked as former Operations Director and CEO of a number of large contact centres across India. Arunabha also has a keen interest in coaching and learning and development. He joined Magic Bus in June 2008.

Anuradha Gupta
Senior Manager - Business Development

Marketing and business development, especially for entering new markets. Anuradha is a post graduate in HR.

She has over 10 years of work experience in education Industry and she has worked with companies like SSI, NIIT, ICFAI, Universitas 21 and Aspire Human Capital. She has been working with Magic Bus Centre for Learning & Development since September 2010 and has been involved in direct marketing, enhancing Sales & Marketing share, handling a variety of corporate / school events and open programmes at the centre.

Vikramjeet Sinha
Head - Outdoor Programme

Vikramjeet Sinha is an Art Based therapist from the WCCL, World Centre for Creative Learning, Poona.

He has been a Drama therapy practitioner with an exceptional quality of facilitation since 2009 . He has a long experience of working in the social development sector and has conducted several workshops in psychodrama, healing the self and on a wide range of social issues around the themes of gender, violence, literacy, mental and emotional health. He has worked with organisations such as Angan Trust, Balak Trust, Hamsafar Trust, Manav Trust and Prerana Trust, all based in Mumbai.

Vikramjeet holds a degree in English Literature from the University of Mumbai, M.A in Social Anthropology from Delhi School of Economics. He has many other professional excellences, which include his training in Clinical Hypnotherapy from Californian School of Hypnosis, trainings in Trauma Therapy and Play Therapy with the British Association of Play Therapists.

Rossie Ayem
Head - Facilities

A seasoned professional with 19 years of experience in Hospitality, Restaurant Management, Profit Centre Management, F&B Business Operations (Retail & Commercial) & People Management, Rossie is an alumnus of St.Xavier's College, Mumbai.

Being an avid indoor sports person, he worked with Prangan, a not-for-profit organisation as Head - Indoor Sports, promoting Child Development through games and play before he began his career in Hospitality and F&B Industry with Taj Birdy's as Regional Manager, Ruby Tuesday as Head - Business Operations & for New Yorker Restaurants as Group Manager. Prior to joining Magic Bus in May 2010, he was working with Consumer Links Marketing Pvt. Ltd. in the capacity of VP MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Exhibitions and Corporate Tie-ups).

Ross has a proven track record of increasing revenues, streamlining workflow & providing quality customer service to clients. His other strengths lie in development of sourcing strategies, vendor identification & development, handled the inventory management and functions related to hospitality maintenance and repair.
